If you have a 2015 Gold Libertad, you own one of the scarcest modern Mexican gold coins. Only 1,452 were struck. That low mintage, combined with a full troy ounce of pure gold, puts its value well above melt: expect several hundred dollars over the gold spot price in 2026, more for a graded uncirculated example.

What exactly is a Gold Libertad?

The Libertad (Spanish for "Liberty") is Mexico's flagship bullion series, the modern successor to the classic Centenario gold coin. The Mint of Mexico (Casa de Moneda de México) strikes it in both silver and gold. The gold version is far less common than the silver, so it shows up much less often among collectors and in inherited coin lots.

Unlike most coins, the Libertad carries no peso denomination on the face. Its value comes from two things: the precious metal inside it, and, for years like 2015, how few were made.
